~ Interoperability within JTRS will be supported through use of software-based waveforms
~ waveform software developed for JTRS includes not only actual radio frequency (RF) signal in space,
~ but entire set of radio functions that occur from user input to RF output and vice versa
~ for example, in transmitting JTRS, waveform software will control receipt of data
~ (either analog or digital) from input device and manage encoding
~ encoded data is passed to encryption engine
~ resultant encoded/encrypted data stream is modulated into an intermediate frequency (IF) signal
~ finally, if signal is converted into a RF signal and transmitted to antenna
~ the same functions will be reversed in receiving JTRS with ultimate output of data to user
~ JTRS waveforms will be "portable" between hardware platforms
