BIO FUELS
~ biofuels have the advantage that they are produced from regenerative raw materials and can therefore present excellent CO2 values
~ they form a major element in the sustainability strategy of the German automotive industry
~ the increased use of biofuels offers the opportunity of markedly reducing the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions of road traffic
~ today the vehicles on our roads can already take a 5 per cent share of biofuel
~ in the future they will even be able to fill up on a blend of 10 per cent biofuel in both gasoline and diesel
~ in the case of diesel this will be achieved with a mix of biodiesel and hydrogenated vegetable oils
BTL
~ on the path to the long-term goal of “hydrogen power” the greatest potential is offered by the second generation biofuels,
~ biomass-to-liquid (BTL) and second generation bio-ethanol
~ numerous different raw materials – from wood and straw to hemp and bio-waste – can be used to produce BTL
~ another advantage is that BTL fuel can be practically “tailored” to different engine requirements
~ the result: greater efficiency and even lower emissions
Green Diesel
~ technologies and strategies to suppress Diesel PM (Particulate Matters) and
~ to reduce NOx, (respectively with A-DPF (Additive Diesel Particulate Filter) and
~ SCR (Selected Catalytic Reduction) solutions) ; combined with CO2 emissions reduction
